Eco Stay Details
Why is this Eco-Stay so unique?
Unlike many eco-stays offering only one or two enviromental features, the Clarenden Eco-Stay is different. It encompasses the principles of both environmentally-friendly construction and on-going operation – giving you the broadest experience of eco-living within a short time. Features include:
-

-
Biolytix Domestic Worm Farm: all sewage is processed by the action of the worm farm from a standard bathroom with no odour or septic tank requirement. Clarenden boasts the first domestic system in the New Zealand and the only solar-powered system in the world!
-
Traditional house with modern day comforts : All appliances are 240 volt with modern necessities of fridge, lighting and appliances.
-
Power Usage Monitoring:
allows you to understand your power usage and requirements, learn the principles of renewable energy and identify modifications you can make to your own home. -
Wood-Burning Fire: provides hot water and combined with solar hot water system ensures sufficient hot water all year round.

Green Building Principles: house orientated to maximise solar gain with locally obtained wool to maximise insulation.
